a little about me
Nice to meet you! 👋 Originally from California, I’m a designer now based in Seattle, WA. I graduated from the University of Washington in 2018 with a BS in Human Centered Design & Engineering (aka “User Experience Design”) and a minor in Japanese. As the name implies, I design technology with a user focus. Since graduating, I've become particularly interested in technologies that improve the quality of our communities and how as creators we can simplify complex user journeys.
“the designer”
I believe design has a memorable impact on the connections people make with a product or brand. As a UX graduate, crafting design narratives that complement the overall user journey has been one of the best parts of the field. I’d say my best trait is problem-solving! Once I have a problem in my hands, I love to turn it over and under, viewing it from different angles to figure out the best way to solve it. I don’t always have the best solution right away— but that’s ok! This is where I find my teammates come in. I find bouncing ideas off each other usually results in some of the most satisfactory and efficient solutions for our products :)
my process
I follow a user-centered design (UCD) approach consisting of research, ideation, prototyping, evaluation, and iteration. I believe good design incorporates, is inspired by, and considers the user every step along the way through user feedback and a thoughtful examination of all possibilities.
In a perfect UX world, there would be defineable steps taken in each UCD process. However, designing in the real world is far from perfect with various stakeholders, timelines, and goals at hand. Thus, I’m learning to really take into consideration what is the problem we are trying to solve at hand and how can we “manipulate” the UX/research tools we have to meet these goals.
